Spring Quarter 2007 Dictations by Dan Loos

  1. Open your Microsoft Word program and type the sentences while you are listening to the dictation.
  2. Be sure to save your file to your thumb drive. Save your file as
    dictation_1_spring2007_yourfirstname
    For dictation 2, save your file name as
    dictation_2_spring2007_yourfirstname
  3. Go to Angel: Class/Week 1 (For dictation 2 go to Class/Week 2)
  4. Click on the icon for Dictation 1 or Dictation 2
  5. Copy the sentences from Word and paste the sentences into the Angel exercise.
  6. Do not copy the numbers at the beginning of the sentences and remember to put a period at the end of your sentences.
  7. When you are finished copying and pasting all the sentences in Angel, check your work and then submit the exercise. The computer will give you a score.

    Important Note:
    When the podcast opens, you will start to hear the exercise. Notice that there is a progress bar and there are control buttons so that you can stop or pause the podcast. You can click the pause button to listen to a part that you want to hear again or to give you time to type your answers. You will need to go to the task bar at the bottom of your screen to change between your word document and the document with the podcast controls. In the beginning, this will take practice to get used to, but you can do it! Remember to keep saving your word document file and Happy listening!

    P.S. If you have an I-POD you can get these listening exercises by going to I-Tunes. Click on Advanced and then click on Subscribe to Podcast. You will be asked for a URL address. The URL address for our podcasts is: http://feeds.feedburner.com/InformationTechnologyForEslStudentsPodcasts

  1. To complete Listening Exercise 1, you will need the written document to complete the exercises. Do the following to get the document:
    Save the Word file for Listening Exercise 1 to your thumb drive.
    Save your file in the following format: your Angel user name_listeningexercise_1_fall2006
  2. Open your Listening Exercise 1 Word file that you just saved to your thumb drive.
  3. Open your Microsoft Office textbook to page 124.
  4. Now you need to be able to listen to the exercise. (Make sure that you have your headphones on.)
    Find and click on the podcast that you want to listen to above. (Remember that you can always link to our class web site and Angel online class.)

    Why and what?

    Listening Exercise 1 will help you review concepts and vocabulary from pages 124-138 of your Microsoft Office 2003 textbook.
